SMCOY offers a wide selection of rock laboratory testing options for geotechnical projects, covering from the widely known compressive and tensile peak strength tests to more specialized ones, such as fracture and joint mechanics and thermal coefficient tests, for heat storage projects. You can be certain that you will find a suitable test for your geotechnical project, either in the mining or infrastructure industry.

All samples for testing are delivered to our laboratory in Kaarina, Finland. The majority of tests are carried out in our premises. Additionally, we offer geophysical testing through trusted and qualified partners.

Our rock laboratory testing services include sample preparation, testing, and reporting. The test report includes sample list, results in table, high quality photographs of samples in core box, before and after preparation; photographs of each specimen before and after testing; and the relevant test plots. If only results are required in tabular form, please state it on the quote request.

All tests are performed following recognized standards in the industry

  • ISRM
  • ASTM
  • NTNU

Request an offer indicating desired laboratory tests (see our large selection below), number of samples, and preferred schedule.

Please check the rock testing sample selection recommendations when shipping samples to be tested, and fill the sample list when requesting a quote or/and sending samples.

NOTE: In case of large orders, please consider request time at least 4 months in advance.

When quoting, the reference price is in euros, any other currency is calculated at the moment of making the quote for indicative purposes. A +20% on unit price applies when ordering less than 8 units per test type. When billing, the unitary costs are given in Euros as in the offered/accepted quote. All prices offered are á (VAT 0 %); shipping costs, possible additional taxes/possible customs costs are stated in the offer when possible but included in the final invoice. Due currency fluctuations, final costs may differ from initial offer.
