Laboratory services 2025

Samples for testing are delivered to SMCOY’s laboratory in Kaarina, Finland. Unitary costs per sample include sample preparation, testing, and reporting. The test report includes sample list, results in table, high quality photographs of samples in core box, before and after preparation; photographs of each specimen before and after testing; and the relevant test plots. If only results are required in tabular form, please state it on the quote request. For less than eight samples per test the unit prices are increased by 20 %.

When quoting, the reference price is in euros, any other currency is calculated at the moment of making the quote for indicative purposes. When billing, the unitary costs are given in Euros as in the offered/accepted quote. All prices offered are á (VAT 0 %); shipping costs, possible additional taxes/possible customs costs are stated in the offer when possible but included in the final invoice. Due currency fluctuations, final costs may differ from initial offer.and  or anytime without

Please check the rock testing sample selection recommendations when shipping samples to be tested, and fill the sample list for a better identification of your samples.

NOTE: In case of large orders, please consider request time at least 4 months in advance.

Please use this sample list when requesting quote or/and sending samples.

1) the price is for one axial and one tangential strain gauge or for axial and radial extensometer. Additional two gauge rosette is +52 € per sample and testing with two three gauge rosettes is +99 € per sample.
2) in TCS test with confinement pressure 15 MPa, +181 € is charged if the Hoek-cell rubber sleeve breaks, and +120 € if it is necessary to replace the strain gauge (two-gauge rossette) (eg. lead wires cut)
3) includes three joint normal stiffness tests and four direct joint shear tests
4) includes 10 tilt tests for 3 lines, 30 in total
5) European Standard EN ISO 17892-2:2014 for geotechnical laboratory testing
6) can also be conducted time-dependent, resulting in sub-critical crack growth velocity
7) AVS-test requires a fragment of the actual cutter ring laser cut grinded and polished to specification. If the client provides the carbide bit to specification, the cost is the same as AV-test. If SMCOY takes care of the cutting/grinding/polishing, the cost of the AVS-test is the cost of the AV-test + preparation costs (at cost + 15%).
8) For applicable tests, 33% of the tests value is charged when the sample breaks during sawing, grinding and preparation. If a sample has been fully prepared but is later decided not to be test, 66% of the test value applies.
